Since 2020 there’ve been lawsuits against AI companies for violating US copyright law (one early case “is still winding its way through the court system.”). How’s that legal landscape evolved since the pandemic? \u2013 since the generative AI gold rush began (2022). Is the only choice for content publishers in court or compact?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly every major generative AI company has been pulled into this legal fight, including OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, Google, Anthropic, and Nvidia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other cases, like the closely-watched lawsuit filed by The New York Times against OpenAI and Microsoft, are currently in contentious discovery periods, during which both parties are arguing over what information they need to turn over.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
