Policy-makers and government officials on this year’s list include \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scientists, professors, researchers and activists recognized on the list include those focused on AI ethics, bias and safety \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026 the anonymous author of Japanese manga, who used Midjourney to produce the first completely AI-illustrated Japanese comic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list also features creatives interrogating the influence of AI on society or experimenting with the technology \u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

TIME 100: I was honored this week to be named one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in AI. The list features leaders, policymakers, artists and entrepreneurs across a variety of fields and from countries around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As one of just three Members of Congress with a degree in computer science, I know that AI is doing amazing things for our society but could cause significant harm if left unchecked and unregulated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s why I’ve introduced legislation to establish a national bipartisan blue-ribbon commission to make recommendations on how to regulate AI while also encouraging innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowing that AI poses a serious risk to the safety and wellbeing of our nation and our world if not regulated, I also introduced legislation to prevent AI from launching nuclear weapons without human oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January, I wrote an op-ed for the New York Times outlining why Congress needs to act quickly to address AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
