Yes, recent anecdotal reports on this subject indicate that the best way to prevent clogging is NOT to leave the printer on all the time (days, weeks). Be sure to turn the printer off using the power button on the printer itself (not using a power strip).
On some printers the printhead is built into the cartridge; so, replacing the cartridge can fix a badly clogged head. On others the two components are separate.
A related complaint has been that some printers disable printing when ink is low in at least one of the cartridges. Other printers merely issue an warning message and permit printing until quality degrades.
