This site provides news and answers to FAQs, as well as access to informational sections and sample opinion polls and selected photo galleries, digital video, and site examples. Current customers may become registered users by sending email.

This site uses XOOPs, a modular dynamic content management system.

XOOPS may be used to create robust online informational communities, shared interactive cyberspaces, blogs, discussion groups and forums, etc. "Mere mortals" can manage the content -- you do not need to know a computer programming language (HTML, PHP, SQL, etc.).

XOOPS was updated from:

Version 2.0.13.2 to 2.0.14
Version 2.0.14 to 2.0.16

and these modules updated: system. The update packages only included the System module; so, my Headlines and Stockbox curl patchs remained intact; and Liaise appears to work okay.

Today (12-14-2005) XOOPS was upgraded from:

Xoops-2.0.10-to-2.0.12a
Xoops-2.0.12a-to-2.0.13
xoops-2.0.13-to-2.0.13.1
xoops-2.0.13.1-2.0.13.2

and these modules updated: system, news, xoopsfaq, xoopsheadline. (Other updated modules are not in use.) No changes to other 3rd-party modules were made.

My fopen-to-curl code mod in the headline module updatecache function was reapplied.

Today (5-12-2005) XOOPS was upgraded to version 2.0.9.2 and then to 2.0.10. My Headlines patch was included. Liaise module was updated to version 1.23.

Due to a security enhancement by my hosting provider, a major upgrade of XOOPS may be required. In the mean time some modules are NOT working, for example, Headlines and Stockbox. Please notify me if any other features are amiss.

Technical detail: As of April 20, the allow_url_fopen PHP configuration was turned off.

While Headlines is a core module, other third party modules will require testing and possibly upgrade as well. [Update: See comments.]

This XOOPS site has been updated to version 2.0.7 by following the brief instructions provided with the update package. The update required manually ftp copying / replacing several dozen files, in various folders.

Hopefully. Unlike for the update on DigiVideoPlus' LAN server, there was a glitch. Checking the site generated an error from the new "XOOPS_CHECK_PATH" code in the "mainfile.php" file: "XOOPS path check: Script is not inside XOOPS_ROOT_PATH and cannot run."

There were some character "gremlins" in the file and the define line used a parameter value of 1 rather than zero as in the "mainfile.dist.php" file [define('XOOPS_CHECK_PATH', 0);]. After doing "Zap Gremlins..." in BBEdit and changing the parameter value to 0, site access worked again.

Puzzling, since the XOOPS LAN server has a parameter value of 1 in the "mainfile.php" file, which works okay. Sigh.

On 7-26-04 this site was moved from DigiVideoPlus' LAN using local phpMyAdmin export of all XOOPS tables; the exported sql file was then imported using DreamHost's hosted phpMyAdmin. Folders and files were transferred using ftp. See this FAQ page for additional information. Not all indicated chmod's were applied.
